Defibrillation

One, two, three, CLEAR!

Countryside
I've had a two year pause in my blog, which is mostly because I haven't been moving for a long time. My travel blog was just for my travels, and my traveling has ceased since I came here to Laos. Still, I keep coming back here to my blog, wondering if staying here was the right choice to do. It's hard to describe what I feel when I start to dwell in it, as this was supposed to be the journey of my life, and somehow the journey became my life.

Professionally speaking I've degraded, as my ambitious career plans have become more Lao oriented life-is-for-relaxing kind of day-by-day existing more than advancing in life and social stature. The reason I'm typing down my thoughts is actually because of watching the movie Into The Wild, which kind of describes the feeling why I left in the first place, only multiplied by ten.

Now I'm in between multiple paths;
  • Stay in Laos, find a paid job in a public company and observe the decay of the government and survive with the average pay I'd be able to get from here.
  • Obtain a high paid job in a developed country in an international consulting company and do what I do best; work as an interface between business minded clients and IT oriented developers.
  • Investigate the career offered by my current employer with the possibility of heading to Africa, South America or South Asia and try to find peace with doing development aid that doesn't seem to work as well as development aid should.
  • Go back to Finland and concentrate in my career, learning to excel in consulting different industries and dwell in the familiar, simultaneously being able to be close to friends and family that I find most dear.
Back to Civilization?
I hope this blog can continue as my personal diary (that's open to public). I regret not writing down my past experiences in Laos as I've slowly come to realize how much my perception of this country has changed over time. Reading the ancient blog over and over again has proved to me that this is still the best means to keep track of my life, and I'll do my best to keep this page up to date - even if it would be just for me. If, however, somebody still wonders here and I have an audience, I'll add some shots from along the way to keep you entertained:
